How to Optimize Your TrainingPeaks Experience with Seamless Integrations

By Coach Paul

Getting Started

Congratulations on embarking on your TrainingPeaks journey! One of the most critical steps following your account setup is ensuring that your devices are seamlessly integrated with your training calendar. This integration allows your devices to receive structured workouts and automatically sync your completed sessions back to the calendar, aligning them with your planned workouts.

To get started, it’s essential to connect all your primary data sources to TrainingPeaks. This includes your watch, bike computer, trainer software, and any other tools you use to track your workouts. While there are numerous devices and manufacturers out there, we’ve streamlined the process by providing connection guides for the most common brands below. For other devices, visit the TrainingPeaks Help Center for detailed instructions.

- Garmin
- Apple
- Wahoo
- Suunto
- Polar
- Coros

If you're using an indoor trainer app like Zwift or TrainerRoad, syncing your workouts is straightforward. Connect your accounts by navigating to the respective settings: for Zwift, go to my.zwift.com/settings/connections, and for TrainerRoad, head to Account Profile -> Ride Sync. Enter your TrainingPeaks credentials to enable automatic workout uploads.

Timing is key when syncing your devices with TrainingPeaks. Devices on your wrist or bike, which may not always be connected to the internet, require manual syncing after your workout via Cellular, WiFi, or USB. This often involves just pressing a button. On the other hand, apps running on your phone or computer typically auto-sync once you save your workout.

For those with structured workouts from their coach or training plan, exporting these to your devices is a breeze. Most Garmins, the Wahoo ELEMNT or BOLT, and indoor training apps support this feature. Garmin users will find their scheduled workouts via Garmin Connect Sync, while Wahoo users can sync through the Wahoo ELEMNT Companion app. Explore our Zwift Primer and TrainerRoad Primer for detailed instructions on importing structured workouts into these platforms.

Finally, while automation is powerful, it's crucial to engage with your workout data actively. Reviewing your workouts helps ensure that you followed the prescribed plan and provides insight into how your performance aligns with the workout description. Don't forget to add a post-workout comment for your coach, enhancing communication and feedback for your training journey.
